Slouchy Basic Beanie Using Wool and the Gang Alpachino Merino

Take our favorite Basic Beanie, give it a little slouch, and what do you get? This fun, free pattern! This slouchy hat has a casually ribbed brim and swirling decreases for just the right amount of easy-going charm.

We chose Wool and the Gang’s Alpachino Merino for a chunky version of the Slouchy Basic Beanie. A blend of sustainably sourced alpaca and merino wool, this yarn has a gentle, poofy twist and creates a plush, cozy fabric!

The Details

FINISHED SIZES
Adult Medium (Adult Large): Approx. 20 (22)”/51 (56)cm around x 10″/25.5cm deep.
Note: Hat will stretch to fit head 2″/5cm larger than finished circumference.

YARN
1 skein Wool and the Gang Alpachino Merino (110 yds/100m each). Or approx. 95 (110) yds/87 (100)m of an equivalent chunky-weight yarn.

Sample shown in color True Blood Red.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 10½ (6.5mm) 16″/40cm circular and double-point needles, or size to obtain gauge.
US 10 (6mm) 16″/40cm circular needle, or one size smaller than gauge needle.
5 stitch markers, one in a contrast color for start of round.
Darning needle to finish.
Optional: 21⁄2″/65mm Pom-Pom maker.

GAUGE
Approx. 12 sts = 4″/10cm in stockinette stitch in the round, after blocking.
